How storage works with a move

Storage with Jack Removals is part of the move rather than a separate errand. The crew that packs your home wraps the furniture, bags the mattresses and loads everything against a written inventory. The van goes to our store instead of your new address, and each item is logged in. When you are ready, you tell us a date, we load from the same inventory and deliver to the new place, unwrap and put the furniture in the rooms you choose. Nobody has to hire a van, drive to a self-storage unit or carry boxes up a corridor. The quote covers the collection, the storage and the delivery, and it is written from what you actually need to store.

What should and should not go into storage?

Furniture, boxed household goods, books, bikes, garden furniture, white goods and office equipment all store well once they are clean, dry and wrapped. Fridges and freezers should be defrosted and dried with the doors wedged open so they do not grow mould. Mattresses go in sealed bags and sofas in fitted covers. What cannot go in is anything flammable or pressurised (paint, fuel, gas bottles, aerosols), food or anything perishable, plants, and anything illegal. Documents you may need, such as passports, deeds or the paperwork for a move abroad, are better kept with you. If you are not sure about an item, ask when you get the quote and we will tell you how it should be prepared, or whether it is better kept somewhere else.

How do I get one item back without unloading everything?

Because every item is logged in against your inventory, we know where it is. Tell us what you need, whether a single box of winter clothes or the dining table, and we retrieve it for delivery or have it ready for you to collect by appointment. This is why we label boxes by contents as well as by room when goods are going into storage rather than straight to a new address. It also means that when you finally move in, the delivery can be done in the order you want: beds and kitchen first, the garage boxes last. For a move abroad, goods can go straight from storage onto the international run, so they are only loaded once.

What storage includes

Monitored premises

CCTV, intruder alarms and controlled access. Goods are logged in against your inventory and logged out the same way.

Wrapped before it goes in

Furniture is blanket-wrapped and mattresses bagged before storage, so nothing sits bare against anything else.

Sized to your inventory

We quote from what actually needs to go in, not from a unit size you have to guess at, so you are not paying for empty space.

Collection and delivery

We collect from your old address and deliver to the new one when you are ready. You never need to visit the warehouse.

No long contracts

No minimum term and no cancellation fee. Tell us when you want your things back and we book the delivery.

Part-move storage

Store some rooms and move the rest. Useful when downsizing, renovating or waiting on a completion date.
